Live Review : Humanoid City Tour - Nantes (France), March 20th, 2010

This one wasn't planned. It's one of those combinations of real life making you want to "entkommen der Welt", as the song goes (escape the world), and hearing bad news about the band and feeling bad for them (yes, yes, I know it's silly, but since they pay me back with good shows, it's a win-win situation).

Bill still only knows the same 3 expressions in French XD

So I looked up for other shows that were practical and not too expensive to go, in destinations with things to do other than attending a show. The Nantes gig was on a Saturday, it's only 2 hrs of train away from Paris, and I'd never visited the town despite its touristic renown. So I added it to my mini-tour, not last minute but not far.

I didn't realize there was a fan-action until I saw the expression on Bill's face and looked around to see what caused him to look even happier than usual on stage. Then I saw the balloons. I tried to film them to show how many there were, from the pit to the seats, but there wasn't enough light I'm afraid. Anyway, the band did love it.

It turned out to be another choice I didn't regret at all. If I get a moment I'll make a page about the Fine Arts Museum of Nantes that I visited on Sunday, it's gorgeous and has a rich collection.

The second of the few songs kept from previous setlists. Guck mir ins Gesicht ;)

Even if, once again, the venue wasn't full, the Nantes audience was possibly even warmer than Lille, the spirits were high, and we even had a sunny, warm-ish weather for the wait. Which, considering that it's (more or less) Brittany, in March, wasn't a given at all. I completed my video collection to get the full set list, give or take, as a memory.

... Yes, I know. Three shows, three times I record it. Bill and Tom looked especially touched this time for the thank you speech, since it was so soon after the fan-action...
And my geisterfahrer was there so eh :P

My gig mate was afraid that the egg would be broken, as it hadn't been fully functional or even built at some previous shows, but we got the entire Death Star opening and closing, no sweat ;-)

Can't do anything but sing at the top of my lungs, this one, but my camera's mic is directional so you won't hear it XD

Even starting to queue late, after 5 pm, I managed to find a seat on the front row of the balcony, on Georg's side. And puzzled the father sitting next to me with all the bling I got out, between the glowsticks, the silver & blue top, the TH glowy multicolored stick and what not. Yes, yes, I know. But it's part of the show to get in the mood. We're all blingy shiny alien fireflies, is all. *whistles*

Shine shine shine...

Bill keeps trying to make us sing this one, and... I don't know for other fans, but it's one of the songs I know the least, oops. Not one of my favorites sorry.

I also got to play guardian angel after the show to a random fan, something I could do without, but I felt even less like finding her picture in the news the next day under a grim headline (sleeping alone in a train station = not a good idea. And for your information if you're tempted to do so, most train stations close at night in France, anyway).

Sounded better there than in Oberhausen. And it looks like they added more flaming sheets as the tour advanced oO
